Pronounced \ZHOOZH (with the “OO” as in “good”)

To make something more interesting or
attractive by changing it slightly or adding something to it:

Cambridge Dictionary

I have long been a fan of /zhuzhing/ and believe everything – and maybe everyone – could do with a /zhuzh/ every now and then.

In interiors it really is one of the easiest ways to update a house, room or even just a part of a room.

A little rearrangement of photos and a vase here, an addition of a few cushions there, never underestimate the /zhuzh/

The best rooms have something to say about the people who live in them.

David Hicks

How to give your room a quick /zhuzh/?

  • Plump the cushions.
  • Spritz the room with essential oils.
  • Light a candle.
  • Turn off the main lights and put on lamps.
  • Change the bed sheets.
  • Add a throw.
  • Add some colour in the form of soft furnishings.
  • Add a rug.
  • Hang some artwork.
  • Open the windows.
  • Play some music.

It really is that easy. If you’re looking for something a little more than a zhuzh, or need help with your zhuzing, give me a call.
